Broken Glass & Insulated Glass (IGU) Replacement

A cracked pane or a failed insulated glass unit does not always mean buy new windows. When the sash and frame are still solid, Window Haven replaces the glass—single pane or dual/triple IGU—so you keep the window you already have.

We secure the opening when needed, measure carefully, order or fabricate the matching unit, and install with cleanup. Repair-first is the default; full replacement is the honest recommendation only when the frame can't support a clean glass-only fix.

What we replace

  • Cracked or shattered window panes
  • Failed dual-pane / triple-pane insulated glass units (IGUs)
  • Obscure / privacy glass where a match is available
  • Low-E options when matching energy performance matters
  • Tempered glass where required (doors, baths, code openings)

Pane-only vs full window

  • Frame/sash sound; glass cracked or fogged → Replace glass / IGU
  • Sash rotten, out of square, or hardware failed with frame → Sash or full window discussion
  • Storm / impact with unsafe opening → Secure / board-up → measure → replace

How the job usually runs

  1. Secure the opening if glass is gone or unsafe
  2. Measure glass thickness, spacer, and opening
  3. Order or fabricate the matching unit
  4. Install, seal/glaze as required, check operation
  5. Cleanup

Urgent board-ups for broken outer panes are prioritized separately from routine foggy-IGU schedules.

IGU vs foggy windows

If the glass is cloudy between the panes with no crack, that's typically seal failure—not a broken lite. Same shop, related fix: Foggy window repair.

FAQ

Can you match Low-E or argon units?

We match performance as closely as the opening and available units allow. Bring the make/model if you have it—we'll tell you what's realistic.

Will new glass fit my existing brand?

Often yes when dimensions and glazing method are standard. We'll measure; we don't promise a brand-certified rebuild unless that path is confirmed.

What about storm or break-in damage?

Call the nearer shop. We'll discuss securing the opening first, then measured replacement. Insurance paperwork is between you and your carrier; we can provide invoices/photos as needed for your claim.
